To Everyone in my email address book:

I have just returned from New Orleans and I plan on writing a more detailed update soon. However I needed to write about one aspect of this year long process now.
If any of you ever have the need to have furniture restored or refinished you can trust and depend on George Parker in Lafayette, Louisiana.  With all the things that are gone from my parents' lives it is impossible to put a value on the importance of having their destroyed but now restored furniture back in their home.  To have back the old rocking chairs and Michael's high chair and the old dressers and the dining room table and so many more pieces..... each piece has a story and brings back a continuity to my life and Sandra's life and Michael's life and David's life and most importantly to Mom and Dad's lives.

When we saw this furniture piled high on the back porch and in the back yard, broken, drawers full of water, full of wet moldy clothes or linens that had belonged to our grandparents or irreplaceable wedding albums................. it's just so hard to believe that any of it could be restored. And George Parker at Parker Woodworks did this. He and his employees did a magnificent job.

HI GEORGE,

DON AND I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR AN EXCELLENT JOB RESTORING MY GRANDFATHER`S ROCKER. HE WAS VERY EXCITED AND ALSO THOUGHT YOUR WORKMANSHIP WAS SUPERB. THE CHAIR IS GORGEOUS AND THE FINISH FEELS LIKE SILK. IT SHOULD LAST ANOTHER HUNDRED YEARS AND HOPEFULLY HANDED DOWN TO OTHER GENERATIONS IN MY FAMILY... WITH A STORY IN ITS HISTORY, THANKS TO YOU.

SINCERELY,
JANET

Dear George,

Since your my adoptive son, I feel like I can call you by your first name. :) Thanks for all the beautiful work you did restoring my (water) damaged furniture, and especially for the teacart anniversary gift. You really are a sweetie. Tell your wife how extremely fortunate she is to have you.

Fondly,

Gloria Mayer, NOLA
